Types of trading desks
Different types of desks help to fulfill different needs. Some of them are:
- Equity trading desks: These desks handle almost all kinds of trading options like equity trading and exotic options trading.
- Fixed-income trading desks: These handle bonds and related instruments that pay a yield like corporate bonds and government bonds.
- Foreign exchange trading desks: They act as market makers and help to facilitate trading in currency pairs.
- Commodity trading desks: They are focused on commodities like gold and crude oil, and also metals and agricultural products.
All the different types help the firm’s own teams and other clients to place orders.
Trading desktops
A trading computer or a trader desktop is designed to enable the trader to interact with the markets and to make decisions. It must be fast, reliable, and it must have multiple monitors and must provide support and services even after the sale. One of the main things to look for when purchasing a desktop is the performance of the processor. The processor helps with calculation and the processing of the data. It should have 4 to 6 cores, which is affordable even if you are on a tight budget. You also need at least 8GB RAM. Try to avoid integrated graphic chips as they do not support multiple monitors. Also, be careful to check the quality of the hard drive and the cooling system of the monitor. You can check more stock quotes before stock trading.
